Frequently Asked Questions

Questions Concerning Sign Up, Scheduling and Completing Activities

How do I get started?

How do I sign up for projects?

After logging in at http://ladyvirgin.com/freeip/volunteers.php, click on the Sign Up link to see a calendar of projects. If there is a "Help Wanted" sign on that day, that means there are projects available. Click on the day that you would like to volunteer, and a project listing will appear, such as shelter beautification or donation sorting. Click the "Schedule Me" button for the project you would like to participate in. You will be asked to confirm your selection.

What happens if I sign up as an alternate?

If there are more volunteers for any volunteer project than the number permitted by the charitable partner, we shall endeavor to post a service notice for that volunteer project on the landing page http://ladyvirgin.com/freeip, stating that the applicable volunteer project is closed, but in need of alternates. Volunteers may be permitted to sign up for certain volunteer projects and asked to participate if the original volunteers are unable to complete their assignments. If you sign up as an alternate participant and a volunteer drops out of a volunteer project, we will endeavor to contact you via the email address provided as part of your Volunteer Sign-up Form twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start of that volunteer project. Alternates will be permitted to participate on a first come, first served basis. There is no guarantee that you will have opportunity to participate in any volunteer project.

How do I make a change to my schedule?

Need to make scheduling changes? No problem, just click the "Check Your Schedule." Select the day of the event you would like to remove. After clicking the day, a list should appear and you will see a "Remove Me" button next to any project you are currently signed up for. Simply click the "Remove Me" button for the project you want to remove. Please be sure to give a minimum of 48 hours notice if you cannot make it to a volunteer activity that you signed up for so that we can be sure to fill your spot.

What are service kits and how do I assemble them?

In select cities, charitable partners may ask volunteers to submit 10 Service Kits to qualify to earn a ticket to one of the concerts in Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour. Service Kits are packets made up of items that kids generally need while living on the streets. Things like deodorant, clean socks and underwear, and condoms can be hard to come by when you're living on the streets. Please download the Service Kit Manual (see a link for download in the "Downloadable Forms & Manuals" section on the home page for the Volunteer Site) for more information on how to fundraise items for Service Kits and which items will qualify as a Service Kit.

Can I have someone drop off a service kit for me?

No. You need to be present with a valid I.D. and your completed "Service Reporting Form." If you are under 18 years of age we will also require a "Volunteer Parent Permission Form" signed by your parent/guardian (downloadable from the "Downloadable Forms & Manuals" section on the volunteer login home page).

Can I switch my location?

Yes, but you will lose credit for any volunteer hours earned through a different challenge/offer. You must e-mail freeip@ladyvirgin.com to switch locations.

Can I get hours before the sign up period starts and/or get credit for volunteering for non-RE*Generation projects?

No, all volunteer hours will be credited for the specified volunteer period in their respective locations and must be coordinated through the Virgin Mobile FREE.I.P. program.

Can I complete all my hours in one location?

Yes. You don't have to volunteer at multiple homeless youth agencies if your market has more than one. You should pick the project and agency that is most convenient for you.

How can I be sure that I'm given credit for the service hours I've completed?

All volunteers must download, print, and bring a Service Reporting Form to their volunteer activity. By turning in your completed form at the end of your volunteer activity your On-site Volunteer Coordinator will have a written record of your service. The Volunteer Coordinator will hand you a receipt for your records that you should hold onto in case any dispute arises as to whether or not you completed the required service hours.

Will I be notified if the supply of FREE.I.P. tickets run out?

We will do our best to update the status of FREE I.P. tickets in each location and we will cancel all remaining volunteer activities in a location after the supply of tickets have been exhausted. We will also endeavor to notify all active volunteers in a location where the ticket supply has been exhausted. You will be responsible for checking the status of ticket availability in your location.

How do I pick up my tickets?

You will be notified by email if you are eligible to receive a ticket and if you are under the age of 18 you will be required to return a Parental Consent Form, which must be signed by your parent or legal guardian, allowing you to attend the show. We will email you with detailed instructions regarding the Parent Permission Form (if applicable) and how to pick up your tickets at Will Call.
